| From the point of view of
educational institutions Antalya is well off. According to 1987 statistica there are 995
primary, 106 secondary and 54 high schools in the province of Antalya. In addition, in the city of Antalya can be found a paramedical
training school, a girls'professional high school, the Anatolian Tourism and Hotel
Training School, the Antalya Polytechnic, the Industrial Professions High School and a
primary school teachers'school in the county of Aksu. |

In 1973 the Faculty of Medicine
began its teaching programme. In 1982 the Akdeniz University was established in Antalya
and the Faculty of Medicine was incorporated into it. The other faculties and higher
learning establishments which are part of the Akdeniz University are the following:
Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Science and Letters, Isparta Engineering Faculty,
Medical Sciences Institute, the Institute of Science, the Antalya Polytechnic, the School
of Advanced Tourism Administration and Hotel Training, the Isparta Polytechnic, the
E~ridir School in Advanced Water Products, the Burdur Polytechnic, and the Burdur Advanced
Teachers Training School. |
